Winter uptake 2014

This is the situation which was recorded at the time of placing the Spring bait, and reflects the eating that had occurred during winter. It shows increased bait uptake, during a winter when rat numbers, as indicated by trap catch rate at the edges of the Ark, were 4-5 times higher than normal. A very high winter rat population was evident right across northern New Zealand, after heavy fruiting of food sources in summer was followed by a warm winter.
