1. Forthcoming session this week and Ark activities

After checking with the Council we have ascertained that some parts of the southern Ark are safe to access. We will be sending you a list of some reopened areas as soon as we have the final go ahead.

There will be a Thursday session this week on the 15th February, where we will be working in the newly established Nihotupu block, near the southern Ark boundary and one of the areas identified as safe. It is mainly line maintenance with a bit of baiting along the way. The session will start at 8:30am at the Ark. Please note that because the gate is closed on Falls road, we ask you to wait in the Golf Club car park until we open the gate at 8:30am. So please don't be late!

The session will be followed by a scone party for Hayley who will finish her time with us at the end of the week to get prepared to go back to University.

Please let me know if you are coming to this session. Also please note that if you make a last minute decision or have an unexpected change of plans it's best that you leave a message on my mobile on 021 026 94935 before 8am on Thursday (I won't be able to get your message later than that).

All the other Ark activities are still on hold at the moment, this includes the trapping and the Saturday volunteer session.

As mentioned above, we hope to be able to notify some trappers that their trap line has been assessed as safe this coming weekend.

2. Upcoming rat monitoring

We need to do a post baiting rat monitoring. Before we can do so, we will have to check which lines are accessible and which ones are not. At the moment, lines accessed from the Auckland City Walk cannot be done.

Also rat monitoring requires good weather so we will have to do our best to find a dry night ...
